[Jobs](https://learn.enginehire.io/en/knowledge/jobs?hsLang=en) # Setting to make clock in and clock out notes mandatory if candidate is late ## Normally adding notes when clocking in and clocking out is optional, but in case the candidate is late then you may want to make it mandatory for them to explain why! To edit the clock in and clock out settings, click on any candidate from your admin dashboard, then go to the Profile tab, and within the profile tab go to the My Schedule tab, and from there click on the gear icon on the table header to open the settings: ![](https://learn.enginehire.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Dec-22-2023-12-48-03-9070-PM.png?width=680&height=1261&name=image-png-Dec-22-2023-12-48-03-9070-PM.png) As you scroll through the settings you will see many different settings related to clocking in and out, look for the setting "If candidate is late clocking in or out by more than X minutes, make adding notes mandatory": ![](https://learn.enginehire.io/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Dec-22-2023-12-49-51-8166-PM.png?width=683&height=1285&name=image-png-Dec-22-2023-12-49-51-8166-PM.png) If you leave the setting empty then adding notes when clocking in and clocking out is optional.
