# How to Show Candidate Age Instead of Date of Birth in the Candidate Table

## Add the Age column to your candidate table so admins see each candidate's age, calculated from their date of birth, instead of the full date.

Your candidate table can show each candidate's age, such as *28 years, 2 months*, in its own **Age** column. This is useful when your team needs to see at a glance whether a candidate meets an age requirement but doesn't need their full date of birth on screen.

The Age column and the Date of Birth column are independent. You can show only Age, only Date of Birth, or both side by side.

### How the Age column works

Age is calculated automatically from the date of birth saved on each candidate's profile. You don't need to enter it or update existing candidates: as soon as you add the column, it fills in for every candidate who has a date of birth. It uses the same years-and-months format you see elsewhere in Enginehire. Candidates without a date of birth on their profile show an empty Age cell.

### Add the Age column to your candidate table

#### 1. Open the candidate table settings

Go to the **Candidates** tab of your dashboard. At the right end of the table's column header row, click the **gear icon**. This opens **Candidate Dashboard Settings**.

#### 2. Add Age to the table fields

Under **Fields which are showed in the Candidate table of agency dashboard (Agency Level)**, click into the field list, type *age*, and select **Age**. It's added to the list of columns shown in the table.

#### 3. Remove Date of Birth if you don't want it shown

If you only want to show age, click the **x** on the **Date of birth** field to remove it from the list. The date of birth stays on each candidate's profile. It's just no longer a column in the table.

#### 4. Put the column where you want it

Fields appear in the table in the order they're listed. Drag and drop **Age** to move it to a different position.

#### 5. Check the table

Close the settings window and return to the candidate table. The **Age** column now shows each candidate's age.

**Good to know:** These are agency-level settings. Changing the fields here changes the candidate table for everyone in your agency, not just for you.
