# Connect Claude to Your Enginehire Account

## Use Claude to look up candidates and clients, check availability, and create shifts in Enginehire by chatting in plain language.

You can connect Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, to your Enginehire account and handle everyday scheduling tasks from a Claude chat. Ask Claude to find a candidate, check who is available on a date, review your shifts, or create a new shift, and it works directly with your agency's Enginehire data.

Claude connects through your own Enginehire admin login, so it can only see and do what your account already allows. This article shows you how to find your connector address, add Enginehire to Claude, and use it safely.

### What Claude can do in Enginehire

Once connected, Claude can use five Enginehire actions. You don't need to name them. Just describe what you need, and Claude picks the right one.

| Action | What it does | Try asking |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Search candidates** | Finds a candidate by name or email | "Find the candidate Jane Doe in Enginehire." |
| **Search clients** | Finds a client by name or email | "Look up our client, the Rivera family." |
| **Check availability** | Shows who is free on a given date | "Who is available on Friday, November 6?" |
| **List shifts** | Shows upcoming and recent shifts | "What shifts do we have coming up?" |
| **Create shift** | Creates a shift for a client and assigns a candidate, after you confirm | "Create a shift for the Rivera family on November 6 from 9 AM to 12 PM and assign Jane Doe." |

You can also combine steps in one request, such as asking Claude to check whether a candidate is free on a date and then create the shift. Other changes, like editing or canceling a shift or updating a candidate's status, still need to be made in your Enginehire dashboard.

### Before you connect Claude to Enginehire

To connect, you need an Enginehire **admin** login for the agency you want to connect, a Claude account, and your agency's **Agency Number**. Only Enginehire admins can connect Claude, and each connection is limited to the agency you sign in to.

Custom connectors are available on every Claude plan, including Free. The Free plan allows one custom connector, so if you manage more than one agency, you'll need a paid Claude plan to connect them all. If your company uses Claude Team or Enterprise, a Claude Owner needs to add the connector for your organization first, as described in Step 2.

#### **Step 1: Find your Enginehire Agency Number**

1. In your Enginehire dashboard, click **More** in the top navigation bar.
2. Under **Settings**, select **Global Settings (Old)**.
3. On the **Agency Details** tab, find the **Agency Number** listed below your login link.

![](https://learn.enginehire.io/hs-fs/hubfs/undefined-Oct-17-2026-11-11-09-0585-PM.png?width=670&height=276&name=undefined-Oct-17-2026-11-11-09-0585-PM.png)

Your connector address is **https://mcp.enginehire.io/mcp/** followed by your Agency Number. For example, if your Agency Number is 1234, your address is:

https://mcp.enginehire.io/mcp/1234

**Note:** Each agency has its own connector address, and a connection only works for the agency in its address. Double-check the number before you continue.

#### **Step 2: Add the Enginehire connector in Claude**

These steps are for Claude Free, Pro, and Max plans. You can follow them at claude.ai or in the Claude desktop app.

1. In Claude, go to **Customize \> Connectors**.
2. Click **+ Add**, then select **Add custom connector**.
3. Enter a name, such as **Enginehire**. If you'll connect more than one agency, include the agency name so you can tell them apart.
4. Paste your connector address from Step 1 and click **Continue**.
5. Review the settings Claude detected and click **Continue**.
6. Under **Authentication**, select **Sign in now**. Under **OAuth client**, select **Register automatically**. Leave **Request headers** empty.
7. Click **Add**. Claude takes you to Enginehire to sign in.

**On Claude Team or Enterprise plans,** a Claude Owner or Primary Owner adds the connector once for your organization. They go to **Organization settings \> Connectors**, click **Add**, hover over **Custom**, select **Web**, and then follow steps 3 to 7 above. After that, each person goes to **Customize \> Connectors**, finds the Enginehire connector, and clicks **Connect** to sign in with their own Enginehire admin login. Because the address is tied to one agency, everyone who connects through it must be an admin of that agency.

Claude updates these screens from time to time. If something looks different, Anthropic's guide to [custom connectors](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/11175166-get-started-with-custom-connectors-using-remote-mcp) has the latest steps.

#### **Step 3: Sign in to Enginehire and approve access**

Sign in with your Enginehire admin email and password. You sign in on Enginehire's own page, so Claude never sees your password.

Next, Enginehire shows a screen titled **An external application wants to connect to EngineHire**. It names the application asking for access and the agency it will connect to, and confirms that the application can only see and do what your own Enginehire account already allows. Check that the agency number matches yours, then click **Allow**.

You're taken back to Claude, and the Enginehire connector now appears in your list of connectors.

### Use Claude with your Enginehire data

Start a new chat in Claude. Click **+** in the lower left of the message box, select **Connectors**, and make sure your Enginehire connector is turned on. Then ask for what you need in plain language, such as "Find the candidate Jane Doe in Enginehire." Mentioning Enginehire in your request helps Claude know where to look.

#### Claude confirms before creating a shift

Claude can't create a shift in a single step. When you ask for a new shift, Claude first shows a summary of what it's about to create, such as the client, candidate, date, and time. Nothing is saved in Enginehire until you reply to confirm. The confirmation is valid for five minutes, so if you come back to it later, just ask Claude to prepare the shift again.

#### Choose when Claude asks for permission

Claude also has its own permission settings for each connector tool, separate from Enginehire's confirmation step. Depending on your settings, Claude may ask before it uses an Enginehire tool, and you can allow it once or always. To review these settings, go to **Customize \> Connectors**, select your Enginehire connector, and set each tool under **Tool permissions** to **Always allow**, **Needs approval**, or **Blocked**. We recommend keeping **Create shift** set to **Needs approval** so you always see the request before it runs.

### How Claude accesses your Enginehire data securely

Claude works with Enginehire through the same system your dashboard uses, signed in as you. It doesn't get a separate account or any extra access. Your agency settings, [administrator access levels](https://learn.enginehire.io/en/knowledge/description-of-administrators-access-levels?hsLang=en), and permission restrictions all still apply, so Claude can't see or do anything you couldn't already do yourself in Enginehire.

Each connection is tied to one agency, and Claude can't reach another agency's data, even if the address is changed. Enginehire also checks the account on every request. If an admin is [deactivated](https://learn.enginehire.io/en/knowledge/deactivate-an-administrator-account?hsLang=en) or no longer has admin access, their Claude connection stops working right away.

Anything Claude looks up appears in your Claude conversation, so treat those chats with the same care as any other place you view candidate and client details.

### Connect another agency or disconnect Claude

If you're an admin for more than one agency, add a separate connector for each one using that agency's address, and give each a clear name. Each connection only works with its own agency, so the two never mix. Keep in mind that Claude's Free plan allows only one custom connector.

To disconnect, go to **Customize \> Connectors** in Claude, select your Enginehire connector, and click **Disconnect**. To remove it completely, click the three dots next to the connector and select **Remove**. You can add it again at any time by repeating Steps 2 and 3.

### Troubleshoot the Claude and Enginehire connection

**Claude asks you to connect again or can't reach Enginehire.** Go to **Customize \> Connectors**, select your Enginehire connector, and connect it again. Then sign in to Enginehire and click **Allow**.

**You can't finish signing in.** Only Enginehire admins can connect Claude. Make sure you're signing in with an admin login for the agency whose number is in your connector address. If you need admin access, an existing admin can [add you as an administrator](https://learn.enginehire.io/en/knowledge/add-a-new-administrator?hsLang=en).

**The connector is linked to the wrong agency.** Check the Agency Number at the end of your connector address. To change it, remove the connector and add it again with the correct address.

**Claude didn't create the shift after you confirmed.** Confirmations expire after five minutes. Ask Claude to prepare the shift again, then confirm the new summary.

**Claude doesn't use Enginehire in a chat.** Click **+** in the message box, select **Connectors**, and make sure Enginehire is turned on. Including "in Enginehire" in your request also helps.

### Can I use other AI assistants with Enginehire?

The Enginehire connector uses MCP (Model Context Protocol), an open standard, so other AI tools that support remote MCP connections with sign-in may also work with the same address. Enginehire has tested the connection with Claude, and the steps in this article are written for Claude.
