[Jobs](https://learn.enginehire.io/en/knowledge/jobs?hsLang=en) # Choose Which Client Statuses Can Self Select Candidates for Shift Jobs ## Let clients in the statuses you choose pick their own candidate when they book a shift job. If your agency lets clients choose their own candidate when they book a shift job, you can decide which clients get that option based on their client status. For example, you might let clients in an Active status pick their candidate, while clients in any other status can't. This is controlled by the **Select client statuses which can self select candidates for shift** setting. Clients whose status is in that list can self select candidates. Clients in any status that isn't in the list can't. This setting works together with client self select, so make sure clients can already choose candidates for shift jobs. If that isn't set up yet, see [Allow Clients to Select Candidates for Shift Jobs](https://learn.enginehire.io/en/knowledge/allow-clients-to-select-candidates-for-shift-jobs?hsLang=en). **Important:** If this setting is blank, no clients can self select candidates. Select at least one client status so your clients can keep choosing their own candidate. ### Choose which client statuses can self select candidates From your agent dashboard, go to **More** \> **Global Settings**. Type **self select candidates** in the search bar at the top of the page, then open the **Jobs** tab if it isn't already selected. Under **Shift Job - Client Self Select Candidate**, click the **Select client statuses which can self select candidates for shift** field. The list shows your agency's client statuses, and you can start typing to filter it. This is a global setting, so changing it changes it for everyone at your agency. ### Change the setting from the Shift Job Flow Config You can also reach the same setting from the **Shift Job Flow Config**. Expand **When a client books a shift job** and check that **Client Self Selects Candidate for Shift** is turned on. Select the client statuses that can choose their own candidate, just as you would in Global Settings. If it isn't one of the statuses in the **Select client statuses which can self select candidates for shift** field, the client can't self select a candidate. Either add that status to the field or update the client's status.
